Eventhough I had created alread the word of my choice, I decided that I wanted to make another video of my choice, this was going to be about the word music. I decided that I wanted to film two of my friends who have currently created a band and started writing music for it, however a suggestion came up recommending that they sung Damien Rice’s song, ’9 Crimes’ and after listening to it thought that it was a nice song to sing.
After playing the song some more, I personally thought that the song was too slow, so asked them to remix it and speed it up, which they did and it sounded really good when they played it.
After researching a few music videos this one came to my attention due to the fact that there was some really nice shots in the video such at the shot of the top of the guitar being in focus and the rest of the guitar is not. This made me realise that as long as I had a decent shot when I created something, this could be used for the whole of something and not be boring , if it was done wewell enough. I set up my friends on the floor and cdecided that I wanted a plain background behindthem so it would just be them singing in focus. Due to the fact that I was using a D90 I experimented with angles and the focus of the camera and made sure thatĀ I selected a nice shot to work with. Once I had found a good shot I decided that I wanted to use thisĀ throughout the music video and kept static on the shot.
When it came to the edit the video was put together really simply and I decided to make the video black and white as this made it look more appealing. If I was to make this video again I would probably experiment with different videos and locations so I able to bring a variety of things to my video. However I think that my one shot was sucessful and when I showed people the video they were too busy focusing on the music, so I supposed having lots of different images this would distract the viewer from the music they are listening to. Learning this has give me an idea for my Professional Experience as we have been requested to make a backing video for The Specials song ‘Ghost Town’ for their tour, due to the fact that the main thing the audience will be focusing on is the music has allowed me to learn that with one good shot it can be successful.
